Red, White, and Blue...and Scouts too!

On Saturday, June 8, scouts from Troop 270 partnered with State Representatives Mitch Bolinsky (R-106) and Martin Foncello (R-107) to collect flags at C.H. Booth Memorial Library. Conducted in cooperation with Newtown VFW Post #308, this has become a recurring annual event where the scouts can display their patriotism and respect for one of our country's most treasured symbols.

The US Flag Code specifies that old American flags no longer in service must be properly disposed of, and lawmakers are offering this service free of charge. The collected flags will be disposed of in an official retirement ceremony by the VFW Post.

Beyond this specific event, residents may drop off flags year-round at VFW Post 308 on Tinkerfield Road and the office of The Newtown Bee at 5 Church Hill Road. Flags can be dropped off at either location for proper disposal.
