Troop 270 Service Project: A Morning of Service and Gratitude

A heartfelt thank you goes out to the Troop 270 scouts and parent volunteers who dedicated their Saturday morning to beautifying the grounds of the Newtown Congregational Church.

As our charter organization, the church plays a vital role in the success of our troop. They generously provide us with the space we need to hold our weekly meetings, a secure location to store our troop supplies, and a safe place to park our trailer. This service project was a wonderful opportunity for us to give back, show our appreciation, and thank the church leaders for their continued support.

Our volunteers rolled up their sleeves and completed several important tasks:

  • Weeded the garden beds around the entire perimeter of the church.

  • Freshened up the large central stone garden.

  • Tidied up the memorial garden.

  • Conducted a full perimeter trash pickup.

  • Laid down a fresh, thick layer of mulch to complete the transformation.

An extra thank you to Mrs. Campuzano for recording all the volunteers' service hours, which are required for rank advancement, Kevin Tenezaca, acting SPL for the day, for leading and directing the work, and Mr. Ladanyi for his generosity in providing a delicious lunch for all of the hardworking volunteers.

We have attached a few photos capturing the "before, during, and after" stages of the project so you can see the amazing transformation for yourselves. Thank you again to everyone who came out to represent our troop and make a positive impact in our community!
