Thank you Newtown and Sandy Hook!  This was a record year for our fundraiser, with more trees and more money raised than in any prior year.  With these funds, our scouts will be able to participate in troop and BSA activities, where they will continue to build leadership skills and serve our community

Thank you for supporting Troop 270 of Newtown

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays Newtown!  Once again, our Troop 270 scouts will be collecting trees throughout Newtown and Sandy Hook.  This is an important fundraising campaign that allows the scouts to raise funds they can use for scouting events such as summer camp tuition and fees for leadership training or high adventure trips. As the costs of membership and activities continue to rise, fundraisers like this help ease the burden on the scouts and their families.  To have a friendly and helpful Boy Scout from Troop 270 pick up your Christmas tree and or wreath after the holiday, please sign up above by selecting your desired donation level.  Scroll down further to learn more about how your tree donation will benefit a local conservation project.

Tree Program

Conservation Matters

By donating your Christmas Tree, you are not just supporting the scouts of Troop 270 but you are also helping the environment.  About 1/3 of the trees are provided to the Candlewood Valley Trout Unlimited organization.  CVTU uses the trees to line the banks of local streams to stabilize the banks and prevent erosion.  The balance of the trees are chipped at the Newtown Transfer Station to provide free mulch to town residents.   Continue scrolling down to learn about our generous partners in this important program.  Click "Add to Cart" above to sign up.

Associated Refuse Haulers very generously donates their equipment and time to deliver trees to the Transfer Station.  Click on the image above to learn more.

The dedicated Public Works team at the Newtown Transfer Station handles and chips the hundreds of trees which we drop off during the campaign.

The Newtown Bee helps get the word out to town residents by running ads and stories at no charge to our Troop.
